This manual is for all twin-chamber detachable Epson OEM cartridges. For a manual of refilling "transparent" BCH refillable cartridges, click here.
These are new Epson cartridges which have an embedded chip on each cartridge. If you just refill the ink, the printer will still read the cartridge as empty. You have two choices:
- Purchase a “refillable cartridge” from BCH or other sellers on eBay or Amazon. These refillable cartridges have an auto-reset chip (non-OEM) and will reset automatically. Also, they have built-in refill ports and are much easier to refill than OEM cartridges.
- Use a chip resetter (https://www.bchtechnologies.com/accessories/resetter-cartridge/cartridge.html). Follow the instruction below to refill your original cartridge, and use the resetter to reset the chip. Your refill kit does not include a chip resetter.
Method 1- Top Down Refill:
- Reset the chip using a chip resetter (see chip resetter’s manual).
- Seal the bottom, drill a hole on top of “push” button
- Attach needle to the syringe and load the syringe with ink.
- Insert needle into the hole. Make sure needle reaches the bottom of the cartridge.
- SLOWLY inject the ink into the cartridge. Stop if the ink begins to well up from the fill hole. DO NOT OVERFILL.
- Repeat steps until all colors have been filled. Place scotch tape over the top of the cartridge, so it covers every hole.
- Reinstall the printer and run one or two cleaning cycles until the cartridge begins to print correctly. Do not exceed three cleaning cycles.
- Seal off the vent hole on the bottom of the cartridge with tape. The vent hole is the smaller hole on opposite side of ink outlet.
- Drill a small hole on the “push” button.
- Fill your syringe half way and insert into the hole
- Use a hot glue gun seal the seam between your needle and syringe. Now the whole cartridge is airtight.
- Draw the syringe upward, and the air in the cartridge will bubble up. Release the syringe and ink will flow into the cartridge. Repeat till the cartridge is full. Seal the hole with a hot glue gun.
- Repeat steps until all colors have been filled. Place scotch tape over the top of the cartridge, so it covers every hole.
- Reinstall the printer and run one or two cleaning cycles until the cartridge begins to print correctly. Do not exceed three cleaning cycles.
Method 2 – Negative Pressure Refill:
- Seal off the vent hole on the bottom of the cartridge with tape. The vent hole is the smaller hole on opposite side of ink outlet.
- Drill a small hole on the “push” button.
- Fill your syringe half way and insert into the hole
- Use a hot glue gun seal the seam between your needle and syringe. Now the whole cartridge is airtight.
- Draw the syringe upward and the air in the cartridge will bubble up.
PLEASE NOTE: Should the cartridge print in streaks, first refill the cartridge, then start a cleaning cycle with your printer software
