How to Prime CIS Tanks

Follow

Prepare Tanks: when you first install a CISS (or after adding ink), you must create a correct air balance inside your tank.

For D-Model Tanks (with outside case)

The D-Model doesn't need air filters.  Just close the lid once the pressure is balanced.

  1. With both holes plugged (big and small), flip the tank toward the big tank.  Ink will flow into the big tank.
  2. Set the tank straight again.  Open the small hole (air hole).  Use a paper towel to cover the small plug while pulling it out to prevent ink splash.
  3. Insert air filter.  The small tank's ink level should be lower than the big tank
  4. Put the tank next to the printer.  Make sure the printhead's level is within the range of big and small tanks's level.  If you put tanks too high (e.g., on top of printer), ink will leak out of printhead.  If you put tanks too low, ink will flow out of printer and get back to the tank.

For CLEAR TANKS (without case)

You will need to install air filters at step 3.

Your system will automatically find the correct ink balance after that.
